Distec partners with Advantech to expand digital signage and computing range

Distec, the specialist provider of industrial, medical and digital technology solutions, is set to dramatically expand its range of digital media players and industrial display systems, thanks to a new partnership with global manufacturer Advantech.

As an authorised Embedded Computer Channel Partner serving the UK and Ireland, Distec can now supply a wide range of Advantech solutions. These include a variety of Digital Media Players offering pre-imaging, build and customised BIOS support from entry level up to ultra-slim, multi-display and OPS series. Additionally, Distec will sell a variety of Advantech’s industrial display systems, which range from 5.7” to 55” options.

Unlike digital signage products from other suppliers, Advantech’s rich portfolio of products can be optimised and customised for a variety of digital signage requirements. Potential enhancements including high bright solutions for readability in bright sunlight, anti-glare and anti-reflective coatings, optical bonding to improve strength and durability, vandal-proof cover glass and integrated touch glass technology, LEDs, sensors or client logos. With Advantech’s products, Distec will be able to help customers across multiple sectors to control and update content indoors and outdoor environment, raising brand awareness and showcasing promotions.

Strong growth has been forecasted in the digital signage market, with IHS Markit predicting growth rates of 18.2% to 2021, and 84% of UK retailers saying that such products are an ‘opportunity to significantly raise brand awareness’.

Digital signage is far more flexible than non-professional traditional formats, enabling rapid changing and updating of content which make it more cost-effective in the long-run, and also offers opportunities for developing more responsive, personalised and interactive content. Meanwhile, increased innovation in display technologies, such as wider and slimmer screens, higher resolutions in LCD screens and the development of video walls with ultra-thin bezels mean that there are diverse opportunities for organisations to differentiate themselves with digital signage.

Commenting on the partnership, Noel Sheppard, Company Director of Distec said:

“Digital signage is a really exciting and innovative growth area for us. It offers not just retailers but organisations across a broad spread of sectors a huge amount of flexibility and scope for creativity in terms of how they engage with their customers, develop a brand identity and even sell their products and services.

“Advantech is a true leader in this field, offering an ability to customise to design that is second to none, and we’re very excited to be able to pass on those capabilities to our customers.”

David Barber at Advantech added:

“This new relationship with Distec will bring together a vast amount of history and experience giving customers local logistics and support from a global leader who has over 30% market share in the embedded industrial pc market. In addition to a very strong Industrial offering, this partnership with Distec will drive our wide range of attractive digital signage options in to the UK marketplace.”
