Independent, new British tech company Sharpen Notes offers a radical reinterpretation of traditional meeting notes and minutes for the dynamic video call generation.
Sharpen Notes is revolutionising meeting note-taking with its software solution, an innovative platform that allows attendees to create and share notes in real time during the meeting, the first to do so within Microsoft Teams itself.
Now available as a Teams app, Sharpen Notes, the brainchild of British based actor and entrepreneur Aidan Whytock, is a collaborative note taking tool available within one of the world’s leading online collaboration platforms.
Designed to improve productivity, Sharpen Notes works by allowing all meeting attendees to make collaborative notes in real time directly in a Teams meeting. These are then saved when a meeting ends, creating a useful record that can be revisited or edited at any time.
Users of Sharpen Notes can retrieve all shared knowledge quickly, through simple search and filter functions, which allows users to allocate questions, to-do lists and deadlines to the appropriate team members. All notes remain live and editable after a meeting so that users can continue to collaborate more productively; perfect for the new normal of hybrid online working.
The company’s mission is to inspire a new and dynamic way of collaborative working; driving greater synergy and understanding amongst colleagues and between teams, and allowing all meeting attendees to comment, engage and share.
As well as improving the remote meeting experience, Sharpen Notes saves significant time on copying out post meeting minutes, or cross-referencing different parties’ information. The software promises no more carting notebooks between office and home, or taking time deciphering hard-to-read scribbles.
The notes taken during a meeting remain in Teams, accessible forever to any of the invitees, even if they couldn’t attend, ensuring notes can never be lost again.
Entrepreneur and professional actor Aidan Whytock’s light bulb moment for the platform came when trying to record himself practising lines for a TV series and make notes on key moments in the script at the same time. He realised there was no easy digital solution, so set about working with developers to create one.
The result is Sharpen Notes, and Founder Aidan Whytock said: “I am so excited to bring Sharpen Notes to market. In this new world of hybrid working, this software is designed to make meeting communication more efficient and streamlined.
“Sharpen Notes is for everyone: whatever industry you’re in, or language you speak, it’s a practical solution to improve work life by ensuring that key points are not forgotten, or missed when note-taking. Crucially, Sharpen Notes inspires teams to work more collaboratively and communicate in a more dynamic way throughout their video meetings.
“I’m thrilled that the Sharpen Notes app is now available in Microsoft Teams. We see Sharpen Notes as the note-taking tool of the future and can’t wait to hear what customers think of it.”
Ben Summers, Director, Teams & Microsoft 365 Platform Marketing at Microsoft said: “With Sharpen Notes for Microsoft Teams, workers can now create interactive, collaborative notes directly in a Teams meeting, bringing greater knowledge sharing and increased productivity to employees no matter where they are working.”
The Sharpen Notes app for Teams is available to download via Microsoft Teams now.
